Thane is called a lake city. There were 114 lakes in Thane city and around. Today in 2009 this number is only 9. out of which only three are biologically active. There are n number of factors responsible for the distruction of these water bodies. Out of which forced beutification and construction activities around and inside the lakes are major contributory factors. Masunda lake is the real victim of this.
